Went to visit Kohl's Showroom in New York today with the Merchandising Society and it was an amazing learning experience. We had breakfast, learned about what the Product Development department does for Kohl's. We even took a tour and got the chance to see the different brands they work with since the showroom is where only exclusive brands are housed from Vera Wang to Lauren Conrad to even Marc Anthony & Jennifer Lopez collections. Also we got a behind the scenes on the creating and executing process behind the Simply Vera by Vera Wang collection meeting the head tech designer behind it. One thing about the Vera collection is that most of the inspiration comes from designer or even low ends pieces of clothing that Vera Wang brings in saying she want's this to be in the collection and they go in and tweak it to fit the Kohl's customer. I learned a lot and realized I would love to intern for them maybe next year so we'll see about that. And the showroom isn't even far from FIT! (Kohl's maybe coming to New York City in the future one of the employees told us that they have been working on it for sometime and are looking for a location... I hope so because it is greatly need and would generate even more business for the company)
