Texas-bred, New York-based photographer Ignacio Torres began this project, titled Stellar, using the theory that humans are made from cosmic matter after the death of a star. Incorporating dust, reflective confetti and “shooting the subject from four different angles, taking the pictures all at the same time with a synched flash,” Torres said, the subjects appear frozen between celestial particles. “In addition, space and time is heightened by the use of three-dimensional animated gifs,” Torres added. “Their movement serves as a visual metaphor to the spatial link we share with stars as well as their separateness through time.”
